Decimalisation is the reform that reorganizes a currency into a base-ten relationship between the main unit and its subdivision, most commonly one hundred minor units to one major unit. It can replace systems such as pounds, shillings and pence and requires conversion of prices, accounts, coins and banknotes, often with a temporary changeover period. Decimalisation changes the unit structure; it is not automatically a devaluation or a redenomination that merely removes zeros.
